Remember ...

100_1218
when I complained about not being able to sleep much with this baby of mine?
Well, we found a solution. I say solution with a hint of sarcasm though because it is by far not even close to what I would consider a long-term solution, but for now, it will do ....
He sleeps beautifully on the basement floor. Yep. The basement floor. The carpet he is on in the pic, well that is simply one of those rectangle pieces dh bought from some home store (menards, home depot, one of those places). There is no pad under it. There is however, a concrete floor under it. I sleep next to him on the pillow. I can't fathom why sleeping on the floor is better than sleeping in his pack n play - but he sleeps well here - we're talking 5 hour stretches people. Five. Hours. Of. Straight. Sleep. Heaven. It's heaven.
Despite the fact that I hate the basement floor and I kind of hate the basement at night with most of the lights off, but at least I can sleep for more than an hour or two.

Soon, a bedroom will open up and hopefully we will have a crib set up and he will sleep in the crib like he sleeps in the basment. And then this momma can sleep on a bed. But for now ... the floor is where we will sleep!

I take care of my little almost-8 month old grandson during the weekdays and the only place I can get him to sleep for more than 15 minutes is in my arms!! I've tried the bed, port-a-crib, the floor, the playpen...nada. This little guy LOVES to cuddle, so Grandma sits and rocks and watches TV -- or, if the truth be told, even snoozes along with him sometimes, haha! I sympathize with you, but one of these days the comfort of a mattress will appeal to your wee one. Also, thanks so much for the comments you've been leaving. You said you wouldn't have been able to write the "Thursday Thirteen" list I came up with...I was accused in the not-too-distant past by a nasty fellow blogger of being too honest. Well, she no longer comes around...I keep writing it as I feel it. At the age of 52 I've come to realize there's just too much deception in this world. I LIKE honesty, ha! Hope you have a good weekend, Brandie!

I didn't know that his bed was a pack and play! Maybe the bottom of that is not firm enough to be comfortable for him? Mine never slept in those either, I always assumed it was because the bottom is kind of flimsy and there was a support bar running under it. I would prefer the basement floor to that myself. Glad to hear he is sleeping!
